Efield® CAD import & repair tools
Efield® works excellent in combination with modern CAD software. Efield® allows the user to import native CAD data from all major CAD systems and to repair and modify it for optimum EM simulation performance. Efield® supports all common CAD systems and formats such as
- CATIA, CADDS, Pro/E, IGES, STEP, Parasolid, ACIS,DXF/DWG, STL, VDA-FS, ANSYS, Inventor, SolidWorks, Unigraphics
- gaps
- sliver faces
- reversed normals
- duplicate entities
- bad connectivity
- untrimmed surfaces
- over complex data
- sloppy tolerances
- geometric Integrity
- reducing complexity of geometry
CAD modeling with Efield®
Efield® includes an advanced repository for tools that may be used for alter an existing model in some way or for creating a completely new model. The tools range from those used to delete parts completely from the database to tools for replacing, joining or collapsing geometry through to building completely new geometry.
The user can also create a wide range of geometrical entities such as spheres, cones, etc by using the Primitives Toolbox.
The Efield® Macro Manager is a file browser which allows the user to find and execute macros in addition to the predefined primitives. The user can generate complicated CAD models and structures using his own software which can be read by Efield® Macro Manager.
Efield® CAE modelling tools
After the geometry has been created and is properly defined different materials and properties can be assigned to the geometry. This is done by the Efield® Materials and Properties Tool which gives the user full control of the material assignment process.
The Efield® meshing tool provides mesh generation functionality to create all necessary mesh types depending on which simulation method the user has selected. The meshing procedure is different depending upon if EfieldFD or EfieldTD is used. The different meshing styles available are
- Delaunay meshing
- Tartan meshing
- Hybrid meshing
Efield® EM Graphical User Interface
The Efield® electromagnetic graphical user interface (GUI) includes tools for setting up all necessary parameters for performing electromagnetic simulations such as
- specify input and output file names
- specify electro-magnetic parameters
- specify method specific parameters
- specify solver
- export the parameter set up to an external solver file
Efield® Run Manager Tool
The Efield® Run Manager is an advanced GUI for running the solvers. It requires that a solver input file has been created using the Efield® EM GUI and that all necessary geometrical and material definition files have been generated. The Run manager tool gives the user full control of the simulation process and all parameter settings controlling a single-processor or a multi-processor simulation.
